Patella-femoral joint pain, also known as anterior knee pain, is a common source of discomfort that affects individuals engaged in various sports and physical activities. This condition typically arises from the malalignment or abnormal movement of the patella (kneecap) as it glides over the femoral groove, leading to increased stress on the surrounding soft tissues and cartilage. Other conditions that can present like this are chondromalacia patella (degeneration of the posterior surface of the kneecap)/ runner’s knee, or patella tendinopathy. Contributing factors can include muscle imbalances, poor biomechanics, or overuse. Whether it is during walking, squatting or post an ultra marathon we are experts in diagnosing, treating and resolving these issues regularly using a variety of interventions.
