There are many variable types of arthritis. Most common is Osteoarthritis (OA). Symptoms of arthritis vary depending on the type. Common symptoms include, joint pain, tenderness and stiffness, inflammation in and around the joints, restricted movement of the joints, warm red skin over the affected joint, weakness and muscle wasting. Osteoarthritis most often develops in the mid-40s or older.
Although the prevalence of OA tends to increase with age, it’s not an inevitable part of growing older. You can help prevent joint problems by staying active, maintaining a healthy weight and limiting foods that can increase the risk of inflammation. We can help guide you with a plan on how to get started in order to help to prevent/slow down the progression or impact of OA.
If you already have mild to moderate joint pain and stiffness, regular exercise, hot and cold therapies, use of over-the-counter pain relievers and acupuncture may help manage your symptoms.
